Kerala Story: gets a
bumper opening
after SC, HC nod
May 7, ‘The Kerala Story’
continued its impressive
run in the theatres on day
two as the film grossed
over ₹ 12.5 crores at the
domestic box office. With
a collection of around ₹ 8
crores on day one, the
film’s total domestic
collection crossed ₹20.5
crores in two days, an
impressive sum for a
movie without big stars.
Earlier the Supreme Court
(SC) had twice refused to
stay the movie’s release
and Madras High Court
(HC) had dismissed a PIL
seeking a ban on it. The
movie based on the ordeal
of ISIS brides has since
been declared ‘tax-free’ in
Madhya Pradesh.
The Prime Minister also
spoke about the film in
the Karnataka election
rally at Ballary, ‘They say,
‘The Kerala Story’ is based
on what happens in that
beautiful state. But look at
Congress. They are
standing with terrorists
and are trying to ban it,’.
