Education Minister Jitu
Vaghani announced the
introduction of the
Shrimad Bhagwad Gita
as a part of the school
syllabus for classes 6th
to 12th, from the
academic year 2022-
2023. The move is
aimed to cultivate a
sense of pride and
connection to tradition
and imbibe Indian
culture.
Various competitions
and creative activities
like Shlokgan,
Shlokpurti, Vaktrutva,
Nibandh, Natya, Chitra,
Quiz etc based on Gita
would be organized in
schools. A government
circular explains that
the Gita will be
introduced from classes
6th to 12th in the form of
stories and recitation
through textbooks. For
Classes 9-12, students
will be offered a deeper
introduction to the
sacred text. Opposition
parties in Gujarat have
also welcomed the
move.

China reminds the
US of its word on
dismantling NATO
Mar 20, ‘With the
disintegration of the
Soviet Union, NATO
(North Atlantic Treaty
Organisation) should
have been consigned to
history alongside the
Warsaw Pact,’ China's
Vice Foreign Minister Le
Yucheng said. ‘However,
rather than breaking up,
NATO has kept
strengthening and
expanding. One could
well anticipate the
consequences going
down this path. The
crisis in Ukraine is a
stern warning.’
As the US' Indo-Pacific
strategy gained traction,
China has also stepped
up its attacks especially
on the formation of
Quad comprising the US,
India, Japan, Australia,
saying the grouping is
akin to Asian NATO.
External Affairs Minister

Mar 20, Pakistan’s
parliament is to take up
the no-confidence
motion against Prime
Minister (PM) Imran
Khan on Sunday, in what
is shaping up to be his
toughest test since
coming to power in
2018. The opposition
claims Khan has lost his
parliamentary majority
after over a dozen
defected from his party,
leaving it short of the
minimum 172 seats
needed for a majority.
Fearing the fall of his
government, an insecure
Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-

the Supreme Court if the
dissident lawmakers
would be disqualified for
voting against the
embattled PM.
The opposition accuses

military. He and the
military deny these. No

Mar 17, A Delhi court
rejected the bail petitions
of Gulfisha Fatima and
Tasleem Ahmad in the
Delhi riots 2020 case.
Judge Amitabh Rawat said
the allegations against
them were prima facie
true. The prosecution had
argued that the 2020 sit-in
protests were carefully
planned at strategic sites
closer to 25 mosques. The
protest sites were given
secular names to provide a
legitimate appearance. A
meeting in Dec 2019 which
was attended by Umar
Khalid, Harsh Mander,
members of United
Against Hate and
Swatantra Nagrik
Sangathan had decided the
areas of protest and
strategies to manage
police clashes by keeping
women at the forefront.
The judge also faulted the
counsel of the accused for
relying on a bail granted
by the Delhi High Court to
some student activists on
Jun 15, observing that the
Supreme Court had later
said that the bail order
should not be treated as a
precedent.

BJP reinstates all 4

Mar 23, after the
handsome election wins
that allowed the BJP to
retain power in four
states, Uttar Pradesh

has decided to reinstate
all its four earlier Chief
Ministers (CMs). While
Yogi Adityanath for UP, N

and Pramod Sawant for
Goa were obvious
choices, as the leaders
had also been victorious
on their respective seats,
the BJP has also decided
to reinstate the
Uttarakhand CM , Pushkar

losing his seat. The move
is being seen as a
reposition of the party’s
faith in all four leaders.
On Tuesday, Dhami, who

newly elected BJP
government would

Civil Code (UCC) in the hill
state, as he had promised
before the election on

The Making Of
Antagonist Bitta Karate
Bitta Karate was one of
the top JKLF militants
who had crossed over to
Pakistan Occupied
Jammu and Kashmir in
1989 and received
training and
indoctrination in the
camps there. In an
interview with a
journalist later, to a
question on who was his
first victim, he said the
following...
“ When asked who was
the first victim of his
bullets he took the name
of one Satish Kumar
Tiku, who was a friend
(and perhaps also a class
fellow) of Bitta Karate,
and occasionally visited
him in his Srinagar
home.“
Bitta then portrayed the
sequences.
Bitta Karate had just
returned after
undergoing training in
terrorist camps and
Satish, not knowing
where his friend Bitta
had disappeared for a
while, went to see him in
his home.
Satish found Bitta
cleaning a gun (AK 47)
there.
Surprised on seeing the
weapon Satish asked him
what it was.
Bitta avoided the
question and said that it
was a toy he played with.
Naive Satish took it
lightly and soon forgot
the incident and left his
friend.
But Bitta was greatly
disturbed and went to
see the ‘commander’.
Narrated to him the
story and asked for
directions.
The commander told
him to finish Satish lest
he discloses it to the
police.
Bitta went to Satish’s
house and called him to
come out of his home.
No sooner did Satish
step out on the street,
Bitta, in a flash of a
moment, aimed his
China-made Kalashnikov
at him and fired shots
that pierced through
Satish’s heart.
He fell down dead in a
pool of blood.
Brandishing the rifle in
the air in broad daylight,
Bitta scared the
pedestrians and walked
away in complete
confidence.
In the interview, he
claimed to have killed
more than 22 Pandits.
Bitta clearly said that
he obeyed the orders of
Ashfaq Wani and
Amanullah Khan (top
leaders of JKLF)
in 1984.
JKLF Background
The Jammu Kashmir

runs from twin centres -
one in Pakistan

in the UK. The militant

As per the EFSAS
account, the
organisation initiated

mid-1980s with the
outright support of ISI.
It opened its account of

kidnapping and
subsequent murder of

As per a document by

The king and the

there to see what
was going on. The
crier was
proclaiming loudly
that the princess,
daughter of the king
of that country, was
about to choose a
husband from
among those
assembled before
her.
It was an old custom
in India for
princesses to choose
husbands in this
way. Each princess
had certain ideas of
the sort of man she
wanted for a
husband. Some
would have the
handsomest man,
others would have
only the most
learned, others again
the richest, and so
on. All the princes of
the neighborhood
put on their bravest
attire and presented
themselves before
her. Sometimes they
too had their own
criers to enumerate
their advantages and
the reasons why
they hoped the
princess would
choose them. The
princess was taken
round on a throne, in
the most splendid
array, and looked at
and heard about
them. If she was not
pleased with what
she saw and heard,
she said to her
bearers, "Move on,"
and no more notice
was taken of the
rejected suitors. If,
however, the
princess was pleased
with any one of
them, she threw a
garland of flowers
over him and he
became her
husband.
The princess of the
country to which our
king and the
Sannyasin had come
was having one of
these interesting
ceremonies.
